Application Process for Rutgers University

Step One: Prepare Your Documents

Essays:

• Students need to submit a short essay of their own work.
• The essay should be on one of the topics below:
• Tell a story from your life that shows your character or how it was shaped.
• Describe a time when you helped others and focused on the greater good. Talk about the challenges and rewards of your contribution.
• Have you ever had a belief you held for a long time challenged? How did you react? How did this challenge change your beliefs?
• What is the hardest part of being a teenager today? What is the best part? What advice would you give to a younger sibling or friend?
• You can also submit an essay on a topic of your choice.
• The essay must not exceed 3,800 characters, including spaces.

Step Two: Additional Documents Required

• Submit official high school transcripts or examination results.
• Provide official transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended.
• Submit SAT scores if required.
• Submit scores from the English Proficiency Exam.
• Provide a Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) if you are still in high school.
• Complete the International Student Financial Statement.
