The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is a prestigious, highly competitive scholarship program that provides full funding for postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge. The program is open to students from any country outside of the United Kingdom who are applying to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Cambridge.

Since its establishment in 2000, the scholarship has funded education for more than 2,000 international students, and the count continues every year. Around 80 scholarships are awarded annually, of which 25 are for US students and 55 for students from other countries (except the UK).

3. Travel Costs: Covers one economy single airfare at both the beginning and end of the course.

4. Visa and Health Costs: Includes coverage for inbound visa costs and the Immigration Health Surcharge.

5. University Composition Fee: Covers the University Composition Fee, which varies based on the type of student. Applicants should refer to the Graduate Studies prospectus for detailed information.

The Trust also considers applications for additional funding, which includes:

  • list items Academic Development Funding: Ranges from £500 to £2,000 depending on the length of the course, for attending conferences and courses.
  • list items Dependent Children Allowance: Provides up to £10,944 for one child and up to £15,612 for two or more children. Note that the Trust does not fund a partner.
  • list items Fieldwork Funding: Allows PhD students to maintain their regular maintenance allowance while conducting fieldwork (excluding other fieldwork expenses, which should be covered by the University Composition Fee).

    What is the Eligibility Criteria of the Gates Scholarship Cambridge?

    To be considered for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship India, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    1. Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of any country outside the United Kingdom.

    2. Eligible Courses: Must be applying for one of the following courses at the University of Cambridge:

  • list items Full-time MLitt
  • list items Full-time one-year postgraduate course, with some exceptions (check the website for details)
  • 3. Current Cambridge Students: Those currently studying at Cambridge can apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship for a new postgraduate course but not for funding the remainder of an ongoing course.

    4. Ineligible Courses: The Gates Cambridge Scholarship does not cover:
