The Aga Khan Foundation is a popular international non-governmental organization based in the Middle East. The Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship is a half grant and half loan, meaning that the recipients are bound to repay 50% of their scholarship amount. The repayment starts after 6 months of course completion to 5 years. If the student is continuing studies or working in a developing country after education, the repayment begins two years after the course completion. The AKF ISP is offered in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Kenya, the Kyrgyz Republic, Madagascar, Mozambique, Pakistan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, and Uganda. It is also available in Canada, France, Portugal, and the USA.
