What are the benefits of Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship?
Jane M. Klausman, a member of the Zonta Club of Syracuse, New York, and the Parliamentarian of Zonta International from 1990 to 1995, established the Women in Business Scholarship in 1998.
Zonta has given 713 scholarships worth more than $1.8 million to 559 women from 70 countries.
Contributions from Zontians, Zonta clubs, and friends of Zonta, as well as investment income from the Klausman bequest, are used to fund the scholarships.
In 2023, the majority of recipients are from the United States, but there are also recipients from Canada, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Colombia, Italy, Germany, Spain, New Zealand, Australia, Ghana, Hong Kong, Chile, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Bolivia, and Macedonia.
What is the eligibility criteria for Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship?
Women of any age who are pursuing a business programme at an accredited university/college/institute with a major field of specialisation in accounting, economics, finance, business management, business technology, information technology, marketing, operations management, human resources management, international business, or entrepreneurship and live or study in a Zonta district/region are eligible.
Online students who are enrolled in an accredited university/college/institute are also eligible to apply.
At the time the application is submitted to the local Zonta club, students must be enrolled in at least the second year of an undergraduate programme or the final year of a master's programme. Applicants must be enrolled in school at the time the scholarship is awarded and must not graduate before April 2024.
Previous district and international Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply for a second year.
Applicants for the 2023 Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship may not also apply for the 2023 Women in STEM Scholarship.
Club members and individuals with direct membership in Zonta International, as well as employees of Zonta International and Zonta Foundation for Women, as well as their family members (ancestors, descendants, adoptees, siblings, nieces or cousins, and those of their spouse or cohabiting partner), are ineligible to apply for the Scholarship.
Members of the Golden Z club are eligible to apply.
Applicants from geographic areas within a Zonta district/region where no clubs exist will be considered and are eligible to apply for international scholarships via a Zonta district/region.

What is the application process for Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship?
To receive the deadline and an address to submit an application to, applicants must locate a Zonta club near them by using the Club Locator at zonta.org/locateaclub, or email your name and contact information to Zonta International Headquarters at programs@zonta.org. Applications must be submitted to a Zonta club or district by the deadline printed on the application in the language(s) accepted by the club or district. Only typed applications will be accepted and taken into account.
The application package must include the following documents. The application form can be downloaded from the Zonta International website (zonta.org) and must include the following information:
One recommendation from a professor in your major field of study.
One recommendation from a supervisor, volunteer, or academic adviser. (Zonta International and Zonta Foundation for Women club members and employees are not eligible to write recommendation letters for applicants.)
Essay of 500 words or less describing your academic and professional goals, the relevance of your programme to the business field, demonstrating your initiative, ambition, and commitment to pursuing a career in business, and defining how the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship will help you achieve your goals. (Essays longer than 500 words will be rejected.)
The Zonta International Verification of Current Enrollment form must be signed by the registrar of the university/college/institute (see page 7 of the application). Acceptance letters do not constitute enrollment verification and will not be accepted.
Please keep in mind that students from the southern hemisphere may have limited academic records when applying to a club or district/region. If additional records become available, they may be included when the district/region sends their nominee to Zonta International for consideration in the selection of the international Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships. Candidates for international scholarships may be required to submit their most recent academic results.
Include official detailed transcripts of grades or equivalent records from all universities, colleges, or institutes attended, as well as an explanation of the grading system for each transcript submitted. To be considered, grades for the current area of study must be included. Unofficial transcripts are not accepted and will be returned.
Applicants from geographic areas within a Zonta district/region where no clubs exist may apply for international scholarships through a Zonta e-club or directly to the district/region. All application materials must be submitted to the Zonta club by the deadline specified on the application. Please keep in mind that applicants cannot apply to more than one Zonta district.
Other than official transcripts and recommendations, information other than official transcripts and recommendations must be limited to the space provided; attachments, articles, pamphlets, books, curriculum vitae, or other publications are not requested and will not be considered. Applications that are incomplete or late as a result of postal delays, third-party transmission, or other circumstances will not be considered. Email or regular mail applications are accepted; however, email submissions are preferred. Email applications must be signed and submitted as a PDF.
What is the selection process of Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship?
The club awardee will be chosen by the club evaluation committee after reviewing all applications. Zonta club applications are forwarded to their respective Zonta governor/region representative.
A district/region evaluation committee chooses one applicant from each district/region to be submitted to Zonta International Headquarters. In terms of membership numbers, the five largest Zonta districts may submit two applicants to Zonta International.
The Zonta International Headquarters team verifies the eligibility of the applicants submitted by the districts/regions and makes a recommendation to the Zonta International Board of Directors for approval.
