The St. Lawrence College (SLC) is situated in three cities of Eastern Ontario. The first campus was founded in 1968 in Cornwell, the next two campuses were built in Kingston and Brockville in 1969 and 1970 respectively. St. Lawrence is a college of applied arts and technology whose motto is “Hello Future”.

The president of the college is Glenn Vollebregt. The number of students present in St. Lawrence is 6700 in full-time and 20,000 in part-time. The college has 414 faculty members. St. Lawrence offers more than hundred programs on every campus which are full-time. The full-time programs in the college start every year in September.

Kingston Campus Residence

This campus offers: convenient, safe, secure, and affordable housing to the students with a bed residence for 600 students. Also, there are special suites available for the students who are special and disabled. The residence has everything that students look for when they move out. The rooms that the campus offer have both single and double occupancy rooms.

There are suites offered for a decent living which have an apartment-sized refrigerator, sprinkler systems, optional cable, local telephone, outlets for small appliances and individually controlled heat and air conditioning. The cost for an Academic year to reside in this campus is $6546 for a double room and $7490 for a single room excluding the meal plan. 

Cornwall Campus Residence

SLC’s Cornwall Campus has a residence offering 44 rooms for students with a safe and secure environment. The rooms are adjoined with a shared bathroom, but each room has a private entrance. The security is present for 24 hours with video surveillance all over the residence. There is one large hall in the campus which allows the students to study in groups.

The suite is available at a higher price which includes a single bed, wardrobe unit and desk. The cost for one academic year is $6546. There is also a meal plan which can be subscribed to by the students with a $200 deposit. The Cornwall campus also provides summer accommodation at a special price to the students joining summer internship in college. 

Brockville Residence

The Brockville Campus offers students a 59-bed residence which is affordable and safe for the students. There is a fireplace provided in each room which creates a great ambience for relaxation. The features of this campus residence are 29 double-occupancy rooms with large bathrooms, staffed desk for residence assistance, wheelchair accessible room, soccer and baseball fields and park-like campus for quiet hiking.

The cost for one academic year is $6446 which, wherein the academic year is for eight months. The fees also includes the perks of cable, internet and local phone usage charges. Students are allowed to stay on-campus during the summer at a monthly rate. A meal plan is added as per the student’s wish.

Financial Aid   

St. Lawrence College provides financial aid in the form of OSAP- Ontario Student Assistance Program. OSAP is of a basic type and provides loans and grants to the students. A student has to apply for OSAP which will help them in getting an access to various financial aid programs. The students can choose financial aid according to their circumstances.

OSAP is completely open to  Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Foreign students can contact the Ministry of Education for receiving financial aid. The main aim of OSAP is to create equality amongst the students by giving them the opportunity to pursue post-secondary studies. There is an OSAP Aid estimator too on the website which helps in estimating the loan amount. 

The other type of financial aid that SLC provides to its students is Veterans’ Education and Training Benefit. A financial office is situated in each of the campuses of SLC. Another type of financial aid that the college provides to the students is Hardship Bursary. Bursary is a type of loan which is non-repayable.

This specific type of financial aid is for the students who face financial hardships during their school/college year. The hardship bursary is specifically awarded on the basis of needs. The students are assessed on the basis of their academic performances. The bursary is provided for only one academic year of the course.

St. Lawrence consists of several placement agency partners. The agency partners work with the management of college to ensure successful placement of every student. On-campus recruitment takes place every academic year which connects the students with the recruiters. Job opportunities are posted by the college on their website.

The cooperative partners of the placement cell of SLC gives an overview of roles and responsibilities in order to begin with the student placement. 89.0% of SLC graduates found employment within six months of graduation. 88.6% of employers were satisfied with the quality of the educational preparation of St. Lawrence College graduates.

SLC’s Cornwall campus is situated on the right of the St. Lawrence River. This campus is considered the smallest of all the campus with a city giving small-town feel.
