The University of Ontario Institute of Technology, based in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, is a public research university. It is Canada's only university to offer an accredited nuclear engineering undergraduate program.
Ontario Tech is a member of the University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering and has close relationships with industry partners including Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, Bruce Power, Cameco Corporation, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, Ontario Power Generation, and SNC–Lavalin.
The North Campus, situated at 2000 Simcoe St North, is the main campus of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
The Faculty of Business and Information Technology (FBIT), the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science (FESNS), the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS), the Faculty of Science (FS), the Faculty of Health Science (FHS), and the Faculty of Graduate Studies are located in the North Campus.

The North campus is co-located with the campus of Durham College and both institutions share different facilities including the Campus Library, the CRWC, the bookstore, and various services including parking, security, and IT.
The secondary campus, Downtown campus, is located in Oshawa's downtown area, about ten minutes from the North campus.
The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH) and the Faculty of Education (FE) are located at the downtown campus.
Facilities at the Downtown campus include: Bordessa Hall, 61 Charles Street, Regent Theatre, 2 Simcoe Street South, 11 Simcoe Street North, and the UOIT-Baagwating Indigenous Student Centre (UBISC).

For more than 1,300 students, the university’s Simcoe Village and South Village residences provide free, clean and comfortable accommodation. First-year students are guaranteed a place of residence upon meeting the deadlines for accepting the admission and residence application offer from Ontario Tech University. Students enrolled in January-start programs can apply for residence and are accepted on the basis of the availability of rooms. The residences offer various room choices.
Other facilities in all the residences include kitchen, 24/7 front desk staff, RA on-site, Bi-weekly housekeeping, On-site maintenance, On-site laundry, Common lounges and Outreach worker.
The university’s Student Awards and Financial Aid (SAFA) provides a number of grants and bursaries to needy students. These valuable resources are provided by External businesses, generous individuals, organizations, provincial and federal governments, Ontario Tech University.
FIRST Robotics Canada Scholarship: In support of the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) program, the university is providing the FIRST Robotics Canada (FRC) scholarship, a merit-based scholarship valued at $12,000 ($3,000 annually for four years).
In 2012-13, the graduate employment rate, two years after graduation, was 95% with 90% employed in a job related to their field of study. These impressive figures are mainly attributed to the university’s responsiveness to the diverse needs of employers. Additionally, Ontario university Institute of Technology provides many opportunities to the top companies to recruit top talent from the university both physically or remotely.
The university is strongly committed to funding work-study programs where eligible students can obtain up to 14 hours a week of employment at the University.
The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) is located in Oshawa, Ontario, about an hour east of Toronto. From all the points in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and beyond, the campus is easy to reach, irrespective of whether you choose to get there by car or by bus. It has two campus sites, one in Oshawa north and the other in Oshawa downtown. Traveling between the north and downtown is a simple 15-minute bus ride or a roughy 10-minute ride in case of a car.
Toronto Pearson International Airport, which is about an hour away from UOIT by car, is the closest airport. You can arrange a taxi, shuttle or bus from the airport to your destination. When you ride from the airport to the campus: Take Highway 401 East to Simcoe Street North; North on Simcoe Street past Taunton Road; and, UOIT will be on the west side of Simcoe Street just north of Taunton Road.
You can appreciate improved routes and the U-Pass if you plan to take transit to UOIT. You have unlimited access to the Durham Region Transit (DRT) through the U-Pass.
GO Transit bus to and from both the campus sites - Brampton, Scarborough, North York and Markham, is also open.
There is a GO Transit and VIA railway station in Oshawa, approximately 11 km from the site of the campus in North Oshawa and five kilometres from the centre of downtown Oshawa. You can also take transit through the Durham Area. Not only this, Toronto is only a 40-minute drive away, so students can appreciate both Oshawa's intimate and community-driven location and it lively big city vibes.
