Founded in 1881, New Jersey Institute of Technology, located in Newark, New Jersey is a public research university. The University is located in the University Heights area of Newark and is built over 45 acres of land. New Jersey Institute of Technology is located at the centre of Newark which is only eight miles from New York City and twenty minutes from Manhattan through train. It is accessible by bus, light rail, rail and flight. Buses are available from NJ Transit Bus Lines: 28, 37, 62, 67, 107, while trains are available from Newark Liberty International Airport to Newark Penn Station.
Those who wish to travel by flight can either catch a train or a taxi directly to the campus from the airport. A shuttle bus service is available which is shared among the two campuses and operated by Rutgers-Newark.
