Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering

The Master of Science in Architectural Engineering is a research and thesis-based degree program for students willing to gain more knowledge about design, construction, and operation of buildings and their systems.

Students are required to specialize in any one field of concentration out of the following:

The Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering is a coursework-only degree program which primarily focuses on offering an advanced professional preparation in the specialized areas of environmental engineering practice. Touted as a ‘mixed-media program’, this program results in its students gaining experience in a combination of environmental engineering fields including water and wastewater engineering, industrial and hazardous waste engineering and management, air quality engineering.

Chemical and Biological

The degree program offered by the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering enables students to build a strong foundation in the multiple areas of chemical engineering. 

The Master of Science (MS) degree is a course-based degree necessitating a significant amount of research. Upon the completion of the MS, students can participate in an independent research program. The residency of MS students is typically 2-2.5 years. 

The Master of Engineering (MAS) degree is a course-based degree with an optional research component. Project-based research opportunities are offered by the department. If successful, project-based work can be extended beyond one semester and may be expanded into a thesis suitable for the MS degree. The department was founded in 1901.It was when faculty member Lee DeForest, also known as the “father of radio” sent his first long-distance broadcast from the university.

Graduate students may repeat up to two different courses, each of which may only be done once. Both grades will be recorded, with the most recent grade used in the calculation of the grade-point average.
