Clemson University is a public research university that was established in 1889. This University is often called a "Doctoral university [with] highest research activity". It was rated 21st in the National Public Universities by the U.S. News & World Report. The University offers more than 80 undergraduate majors degrees and more than 110 graduate programs through schools such as The College of Engineering and Science, the School of Business, The Eugene T. Moore School of Education and The School of Nursing.

Its engineering school, The College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences, was started in 1995 and is quite good for Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.

The campus, located in Clemson town, is spread over 1700 acres and is known for its natural beauty. The main library is called the Cooper Library and has thousands of books. The university is located in Clemson, South Caroline on a massive land of 1400 acres. The city of Clemson, where the university is located, is on the northwest end of South Caroline. Lake Keowee and Lake Hartwell sandwich the city.

The university also manages the nearby 17500 acres dedicated to the Clemson Experimental Forest which is a research and recreation spot. The campus has a beautiful natural landscape. The Greenville-Spartanburg Airport, the nearest international airport, is at a considerable distance of 45 miles from the university. Other airports at a further range include the Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which are both almost a 2.5-hour drive from the campus.

Train service is available nearby at the Amtrak station. Crescent Routes provides transportation to New Orleans on one end and the New York City on the other. Clemson Area Transit bus can be used to move around the area. This is a free service that can help you go to many places on Campus through the many available routes.

Moreover, the service also allows you to go to near-by places, such as Pendleton, Seneca and Anderson etc. There are a number of professional, commercial taxi services that run in the area allowing the students to easily find one if needed.The students specifically can use the Tier Transit Holiday Airport Shuttle for transportation to and from Clemson to Charlotte-Douglas Airport (CLT) and Spartanburg (GSP) airport.
