Under the graduate program, the department provides MASc, MEng and PhD courses in Chemical, Biomedical and Environmental Engineering courses. The main aim of the graduate programs is to refine the skills and research expertise of the students by expanding their specialized knowledge of chemical engineering.
The department seeks to undertake this primarily through coursework, research seminars and technical training. The graduate course for Biomedical Engineering is a multi-disciplinary programme that combines resources from seven participating academic units at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University including Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, School of Computer Science.
The students enrolled in the Environmental Engineering programme benefit from gaining knowledge in the applied concepts of environmental engineering and become independent in conducting research and preparing scholarly publications.
The department’s full-time faculty is working on projects such as polymer reaction engineering, sustainable catalysis processes, microbial biotransformation, Biopharmaceuticals, emulsion polymerized mixed matrix. The faculty further integrates these experiences into their teaching processes to enhance the body of knowledge for the department. It has major fields of specialization which draw from the multidisciplinary nature and broad reach of modern chemical engineering practice.
Civil Engineering
The Department trains the students to tackle the existing challenges in society by building their expertise in computer applications and field and laboratory testing and project management and preparing them for emerging issues as well alongside.
