The Department of Chemical Engineering at Queen’s University has been named as one of the top 3 research departments in Canada and recognized internationally as a leading department in North America. Both its undergraduate and graduate programs have existed for quite some time now thus earning an authentic and canonical touch. The department offers undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and Engineering Chemistry, while its graduate program includes M.A.Sc., M.Eng., PhD degrees.
The graduate students are made to follow a research-centric approach to learning through different forms of teaching such as coursework, thesis and project work, and research seminars. MASc is a research-based, two-year programme consisting of four courses, one seminar and a thesis. The M.Eng. program is academic-based, does not have a funding option and includes 8 courses, while the PhD program is fully research-inclined, funded for four years, includes 4 courses (with a graduate degree) or 8 courses (without a graduate degree), two seminars, a Comprehensive Exam and a thesis.

The M.Eng Program constitutes 8-term length courses. Students can take a maximum of 2-term length 400 series courses. The M.A.Sc Program constitutes four-term courses, research and a thesis. The four term courses must conform to the FEAS Graduate Council requirements, that is, four term length graduate courses or their equivalent.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is recognized worldwide for its excellence in teaching and research in the said field. It is also known for housing largest graduate program in the faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
In its undergraduate program, it provides degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering while it’s graduate program includes MEng which has the option of Course-Based which requires a minimum of 8 courses and Academic Project Option which includes 6 courses and an academic project, MASC which is a research-centric program and requires completion of a research thesis, a seminar course and 4 term-length graduate-level courses, the department also provides collaborative MASC Program such as Biomedical Engineering and a Masters in Applied Sustainability and PhD which requires a minimum of 4 term-length graduate courses, a two-part comprehensive examination, satisfactory research progress and a thesis. The department has The Communications and Signal Processing Laboratory.

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering provides an all-round learning experience by taking into consideration the basics, the facilities are given to the students to hone their theoretical learnings in a practical fashion, the flexible course options to focus on knowledge production on the part of the student and much emphasis is put on the oral and written skills which are constantly worked on through proposals, reports and presentations.
It offers MEng which requires a minimum of eight courses, MASc which requires a minimum of four-term length courses and it’s the duration of completion is two years and a PhD degree in its graduate program.

The Department of Mining works towards contributing extensively to the mining industry by producing well-equipped graduates.
