Memorial University of Newfoundland, also known as Memorial University or MUN, is a university in St. John's, with four satellite campuses. It was founded in September 1925 as a living memorial to the residents who lost their lives while actively serving in the First World War. The Memorial University offers certificate, diploma, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs along with online courses and degrees.

The university’s department of Student Residences offers on-campus housing facilities at the St. John's campus, in three residential complexes:
Paton College
Macpherson College
Burton's Pond.
The Paton College offers traditional dormitory-style accommodations for approximately 1000 students in nine residences, called "Houses".
The Macpherson College consists of two "halls" known as Shiwak Hall and Cluett Hall which can accommodate 250 students each. The four "courts" of Burton's Pond apartment have an intake of 500 single students in four bedroom apartments and provide a more independent living. Students with families also have the option to choose Small Family Apartments in the Baltimore Court for accommodation.
Memorial University provides U.S. students loans and Veterans Affairs funding for U.S. students who qualify. They also provide liaison services between out-of-province students and the financial aid office of the province from which they are receiving student aid.

Memorial University has four main campuses and two satellite campuses across three regions of Newfoundland and Labrador and in two countries, Canada and England. The University is one of the largest universities in Atlantic Canada and happens to be Newfoundland and Labrador's only University.

The largest campus is located in St. John's. Prince Philip Drive runs east–west through the main campus with the majority of the academic buildings located to its south. The University centre also has its own bookstore, food court, campus bar and radio station.
St. John’s International Airport is the closest airport to the university. The university provides shuttle service for its students, visitors, faculty and staff. The shuttle service stops at the St. John’s Campus, the Marine Institute, the Ocean Sciences Centre, and the Signal Hill Campus as of now.
