University of Hertfordshire Fees for International Students

Herts charges one fee for both lab and classroom-based courses at every level, a deliberate policy that removes the premium many universities add for science and engineering programs. The exact figure sits on each course page under "Fees and Funding," and the amount in your offer letter is the one that governs. Fees can rise by up to 10% per year in line with government and levy provisions. INR values are approximate (around ₹107 per £1).

The fee structure at Herts is notably flat, most taught courses fall within a narrow band rather than varying sharply by subject, making budgeting more predictable than at many other UK universities.

Payment Structure

Herts charges fees annually and makes students liable in three incremental stages across the year. The £5,000 deposit must be paid before the CAS is issued and is credited against first-year tuition. After that, a £1,000 full-payment discount applies if you settle the remaining balance in full at or before registration making early payment genuinely worthwhile. For students paying in installments, fees are due at the dates set out in the offer letter and the Fees and Finance Policy. Fees can increase by up to 10% per year; the government's planned International Student Levy will add a further £925 to all international tuition fees from 2028-29 onwards.
