UWA Intakes and Deadlines

UWA admits international students in two main intakes - Semester 1 (February) and Semester 2 (July) with most undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs in the February intake and a smaller selection in July. Applications use country-specific deadlines: India and several other countries fall in an earlier deadline cohort to allow for student-visa processing. A few programs (notably Medicine and Dentistry) admit only for Semester 1 and have separate, earlier deadlines. Indian and most international applicants apply directly through the UWA Application Portal or an authorised agent.

UWA Fees for International Students

UWA tuition for international students is program-specific and charged per year. The 2026 figures below are approximate annual estimates for tuition only. INR values are approximate (around ₹55 per AUD 1).

UWA Programmes

UWA offers 320+ programs across multiple levels, all built around research-led and industry-connected learning:

  Bachelor's Degrees three- and four-year degrees in fields such as engineering, computer and data science, commerce, science, biomedical science, arts and design, many with work-integrated learning and combined-degree options.
• 
  Master's & Postgraduate Coursework one- to two-year programs in high-demand areas like data science, business analytics, artificial intelligence, engineering, public health and the MBA.
• 
  Assured Pathways guaranteed entry into select postgraduate programs (such as the Doctor of Medicine or Master of Architecture) for students who meet academic thresholds.
• 
  Higher Degrees by Research PhD and master's by research across the university's research strengths in mining, marine science, agriculture, earth sciences and medicine.
• 
  Pathways & English foundation and diploma programs through UWA College, plus English-language courses for students who meet academic but not language requirements.
• 
  Career Focus programs with embedded internships, placements and 4,500+ industry partnerships, reflecting Western Australia's resources, health and technology sectors.

UWA International Students Criteria

• 
  Undergraduate academic requirement: Completion of senior secondary schooling (e.g. Class 12); Indian applicants typically need around 50–65%, with higher results for competitive programs. Some courses have subject prerequisites (e.g. Mathematics for engineering, Chemistry/Biology for health sciences).
• 
  Postgraduate requirement: A recognised bachelor's degree with the required weighted average (often around 50%+); some programs require relevant work experience, a quantitative background, or a GMAT score (around 550+) for the MBA.
• 
  English proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0), or TOEFL iBT 82, or PTE Academic 58. Some programs (Law, Education, Medicine, Health) require higher scores (IELTS 7.0–7.5).
• 
  Exemptions: Applicants whose prior study was fully in English may be exempt from submitting a test score.
• 
  Supporting documents: Class 10 and 12 mark sheets (and any post-secondary transcripts), proof of English proficiency, passport copy, and program-specific items such as a portfolio or statement where required.
• 
  Application: International students apply through the UWA Application Portal or an authorised agent and pay a non-refundable AUD 150 application fee; you can select up to three program preferences.
• 
  Student visa: After accepting an offer and paying the tuition deposit, students receive a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) to apply for an Australian Student visa (Subclass 500), with proof of English, financial capacity and OSHC.

UWA Scholarships

UWA offers international students automatic merit-based scholarships plus competitive excellence awards. Most international applicants are assessed automatically at the time of offer, with no separate application. The awards below are open to Indian and other international students.

1. UWA Global Excellence Scholarship

• 
  Up to AUD 48,000 over four years for undergraduate students, or up to AUD 24,000 over two years for postgraduate students, for eligible international students commencing in 2026.
• 
  Open to international students from all countries, including India.
• 
  Automatically assessed with your admission application, no separate scholarship application required.

2. UWA Global Standout Scholarship (country-specific)

• 
  A fee reduction of AUD 5,000 per year for eligible international students from selected countries up to AUD 20,000 over four years (undergraduate) or AUD 10,000 over two years (postgraduate).
• 
  Targeted at students from specific countries, which can include India in eligible rounds.
• 
  Automatically assessed during your application to UWA.

3. UWA International Excellence Award (one-off)

• 
  A one-off payment of AUD 50,000 to high-performing international students commencing full-time on-campus study at UWA in Semester 1.
• 
  Highly competitive, for top academic achievers among commencing international students.
• 
  Open to international students, including Indian applicants.

4. Postgraduate Research Scholarships (HDR)

• 
  For students entering a PhD or master's by research, with living-allowance stipends and tuition support through competitive merit rounds.
• 
  Open to international research applicants, including from India.

5. Faculty & Program-Specific Awards

• 
  Discipline-specific entrance and in-course scholarships based on academic performance.
•
