The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the Indian government, WINStep Forward, and the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) collaborate to offer the Khorana Programme for Scholars. The programme gives Indian students the chance to complete 10- to 12-week summer research internships at prestigious U.S. universities.

The Khorana Program for scholars has laid down a specific eligibility criteria for all its applicants. It is as follows:
Applications are open to pre-final year students enrolled in Biotechnology and allied fields (such as agricultural, food, health, and biomedical sciences, as well as interdisciplinary fields like Computational Sciences, Big Data, and Machine Learning) at accredited higher education institutions in India who are pursuing degrees in B. Tech., M. Tech., B.Sc., M.Sc., B.E., M.E., M.S., Integrated B. S-M.S., B.V. Sc., M.V. Sc., B. Pharm., M. Pharm., MBBS, and Master in Medical Science and Technology (MMST).
Students enrolled in their first, final, or PhD year are not eligible to apply.
Applications submitted in subject-fields other than those mentioned above won't be taken into consideration.
The candidate should possess either an OR percentage of 80% or higher, or a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 8.0 or higher. 65% at the very least, and more if the applicant is an MBBS student.
The application process of the Khorana Program for scholars is quick and simple. You just need to follow the steps mentioned below.
Log in using the Visitation Programmes Online Application Portal.
Use the link that was sent to your registered email address to confirm your account. If the emails from iusstf.info@gmail.com are not showing up in your inbox, please check your spam or junk mail folders. Do not respond to the email.
Use the registered email address to log in to the online portal. For future reference, kindly keep your password and user ID in mind.
Select "Start Application – Apply for."
Complete the form with the necessary information.
The Save button located at the bottom of the form allows you to save the data that you have entered.
After filling out the form, you can use your login credentials to access the saved information and submit it.
After submitting, you can download the completed application as a PDF. An automated email confirming receipt of your application will be sent to all online applicants. After submitting, a link to download the application in PDF format will be sent to your registered email address. Kindly keep your Application ID handy for any future needs.

No, you don’t need to book your own tickets. The IUSSTF Travel Desk will reserve the international tickets for the economy excursion class and the shortest route (from the student's parent institution to the U.S. host institution and back).
