The study program has three main parts: core requirements, areas for exploring knowledge, and a final Master's Thesis.

Courses are designed with an interdisciplinary approach, involving teachers and students from various fields such as architecture, studio art, art history, public history, landscape architecture, regional planning, building construction, wood technology, environmental engineering, environmental sciences, computer science, and management.

Students can also take classes through the Five College consortium, which includes Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith colleges.

The Master of Architecture program is recognized as a STEM field, specifically in Architectural and Building Sciences/Technology.

This STEM designation allows international students in the BFA Architecture and Master of Architecture programs, who are on an F-1 visa, to apply for a 24-month STEM OPT extension.
