Application Process for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Step One: Prepare Your Application Documents

• Letters of Recommendation (LOR) You need to provide two letters of recommendation. These should come from your academic advisors, professors, or research mentors who can talk about your chances of succeeding in graduate school in your field of study.
• Curriculum Vitae (CV) Your CV should include details about your education, work history, internships, and any research experience that is relevant.

Step Two: Additional Required Documents

• Graduate Application You must submit your application online.
• Transcripts and Degrees All transcripts must be in English. This includes all post-secondary education and transcript keys. Unofficial transcripts can be uploaded with your application. If you choose to send your transcripts by mail or electronically, they will not be returned. You need to have completed a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree or its equivalent by the time you plan to enroll.
• Personal Statement Your personal statement should discuss your academic interests, research interests, and career goals as they relate to the graduate program you are applying for. Include any relevant academic, research, professional, and personal experiences that influenced your decision to apply.

Rensselaer offers payment plans through CASHNet, allowing you to spread your fees over four months in the fall (August to November) and four months in the spring (January to April). There is also a three-month plan for the summer semester (May to July).

Enrollment for the fall payment plan starts on June 15th, spring enrollment opens on November 1st, and summer enrollment starts on April 1st.
