Step One: Prepare Documents for Application

Gather the following documents to apply:

Letters of Recommendation (LOR)

You need two letters of recommendation. These should come from a teacher or counselor who knows you well and can speak about your academic abilities and personal qualities. Note that letters of recommendation are not required for international transfer students.

Essays

Write one essay or personal statement that is about 250-650 words long. This essay will help the Admission Committee understand your application better. Make sure this is your own original work. You can choose a topic of your choice or write about one of these prompts:

• Share a background, identity, interest, or talent that is very important to you and why it is essential to your application.
• Talk about a time when you faced failure. What happened, how did it affect you, and what did you learn?
• Describe a moment when you challenged a belief or idea. What made you take action? Would you do it again?
• Explain a problem you have solved or want to solve. This can be an intellectual challenge, a research question, or an ethical dilemma. Why is it important to you, and what steps did you take or could you take to find a solution?
• Discuss an accomplishment or event that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood in your culture, community, or family.
• Describe a topic, idea, or concept that you find so interesting that you lose track of time. What makes it engaging? Who or what do you turn to when you want to learn more about it?
• Write an essay on any topic of your choice. This can be one you have already written or a new one of your own design.

Step Two: Additional Documents Required

Make sure to include these additional documents:

• Official transcripts, diplomas, and leaving exam scores from your secondary and post-secondary schools (in English).
• Proof of English proficiency test scores.
• SAT or ACT scores (optional).
• A copy of your valid passport or national identity card showing your photo and name.
