Step 1: Prepare Your Application Documents

Letters of Recommendation (LOR)

The Admissions Committee at Columbia University requires one professional recommendation letter. Ideally, this should come from your current supervisor. If you are applying for the first time, you need one recommendation. Reapplicants must provide one new recommendation. When writing the recommendation, the recommender should consider the following:

• How does the candidate's performance, potential, and personal qualities compare to others in similar roles? Provide specific examples.
• Describe the most important constructive feedback given to the applicant, including the context and how the applicant responded.

Essays

The following essays are required:

1. Short Answer Question: What is your immediate post-MBA professional goal? (50 characters maximum)
• Examples: "Work in business development for a media company," "Continue my career within investor relations," "Launch a data-management start-up."
2. Short Answer Question 2: For non-NY tri-state residents, describe your plans for attending class from a distance. (50 words maximum)
3. Essay 1: Based on your resume and recommendations, what are your career goals for the next three to five years, and what is your long-term dream job? (500 words maximum)
4. Essay 2: Describe a professional challenge you faced, the outcome, and what you learned about your strengths and development needs. (500 words maximum)
5. Optional Essay: Share any additional information that might be useful for the Admissions Committee. This could include adverse circumstances, exciting side projects, academic concerns, or fun facts. This can be in bullet points. (500 words maximum)

Resume or CV

Upload your current professional resume or CV with your online application. It should ideally be one page, but one to two pages is acceptable.

Step 2: Submit Additional Documents

• Academic transcripts
• GMAT, Executive Assessment, or GRE Score
• A signed sponsorship letter from your organization, stating support terms. Financial sponsorship isn't required, but your employer must agree to minimize travel time and release you from job duties on class days.

Note: EMBA-Saturday applicants do not need employer sponsorship, although it is welcome.

Step 4: Application Fees

The application fee is USD 250, equivalent to INR 21.07 Thousand. Payments can be made via credit card. Columbia University offers a payment plan to pay tuition and fees over several months:

• Available for Fall, Spring, and Summer terms
• $50 annual enrollment fee, $30 per term, and a $30 fee for returned payments
• Up to 5 payment plans for Fall and Spring terms, and up to 2 for the Summer term
