To be admitted to Arizona State University (ASU), first-year students must have a GPA of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale (equivalent to a 'B' grade). They need to have completed three years of high school coursework, showing grades from either the 9th to 11th grade if they are still in high school, or from the 10th to 12th grade if they have finished high school. Students must also present a completed high school diploma or certificate. For international students who completed high school outside the U.S., they must meet certain requirements in math and science. They need to have four years of math, which includes algebra I, geometry, algebra II, and an additional course that requires algebra II as a prerequisite. They also need three years of laboratory science, with at least one year from biology, chemistry, earth science, integrated sciences, or physics. Additionally, applicants must complete the following coursework: 4 years of math, 4 years of English (not ESL), 3 years of lab sciences, 2 years of social sciences (including 1 year of American history), 2 years of the same second language, and 1 year of fine arts or career and technical education. To qualify, students must either be in the top 25% of their high school graduating class or have a 3.00 GPA in their coursework.
